In an effort to preserve and restore the City's urban tree canopy, the Parkersburg Tree Commission established a Tree Memorial program in 2000. Since then, over 100 trees have planted around the community in honor of family and friends.
Planting a tree is a meaningful and long lasting way to celebrate the life of a newborn, commemorate a special achievement/anniversary or remember the life of a loved one. To purchase a memorial tree is to give a living gift... become a tree donor today.
Depending on the specie selected, the price of a memorial tree varies between $180 and $230. Included in the cost is the labor to transport and plant the tree, as well as one year warranty. Should anything happen to your memorial tree, it will be replaced at no additional cost for up to one year.
Memorial trees are typically planted during the months of September and October. However, trees can be planted earlier in the year upon request.
Trees are purchased from our provider, Greenleaf Landscapes Inc., of Marietta, Ohio. For an additional $28, a 5 ½" x 5½" memorial plaque from SW Resources will be placed at the base of the tree.
Memorial Tree applications are accepted all year round.
