We are proud to announce that U. S. Representative Alan B. Mollohan, D-WV, announced passage of the final $2,700,000.00 through the House of Representatives for the City's Riverfront Park Project.
On Monday, July 13, 2009, local officials joined Congressman Mollohan in a groundbreaking ceremony at Point Park that included Mayor Newell, Col. Dana Hurst, the Commander of the Huntington District's Army Corps of Engineers, and approximately 50 other officials.
Enlarging the park 7 times and set for completion in 2011, the project includes a fishing pier, riverboat landing, plaza overlooking the Little Kanawha and Ohio Rivers, picnic area with restrooms, a riverboat landing and a walking trail.
